In honor of Juneteenth, get a behind-the-scenes look at a recent community history project that features the stories and contributions of African Americans to Alexandria’s history. Members of the African American Heritage Trail Committee will discuss the importance of Black history in Alexandria, what archaeology reveals about the past, and the potential benefits and impacts of community history initiatives.

PRIDE TALISMANS
Artist Juliana Huxtable explores the intersections of race, gender, queerness, and identity using a diverse set of means, including self-portraiture, text-based prints, performance, nightlife, music, writing, and social media. In honor of Pride month, look to Huxtable’s work as inspiration and create your very own talisman using neon paint, construction paper, and glitter.

JUNETEENTH STORYTIME
Celebrate Juneteenth virtually with the LA County Library featuring stories, songs, and rhymes while learning school readiness skills.
